- Etymology
- The word cross was introduced to English in the 10th century as the term
for the instrument of the torturous execution of Christ (gradually
replacing the earlier word rood), ultimately from Latin crux, via Old
Irish cros. The word can nowadays refer to the geometrical shape
unrelated to its Christian significance. The Latin Crux (translating
Greek stauros) was a Roman torture device, where a person was nailed to
a wooden cross, an act called crucifying, and let die of exposure or
starvation/dehydration while hanging from the cross.

- (Joh 20:25 KJV) The other
disciples therefore said unto him, We have seen the Lord. But he said
unto them, Except I shall see in his hands the print of the nails, and
put my finger into the print of the nails, and thrust my hand into his
side, I will not believe.
- Hands print of nails means more than one nail was used and probably it
was a cross. But you could technically nail two nails into hands.

- The point is that Jesus partook of the Tree of Life (doing God’s will)
instead of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil.
- In order to partake of the Tree of Life you need to be fashioned to it
so your flesh can do nothing it wants.
- You can only do what God wants.

- The main point of being “stakeified” or “crucifed” is that your flesh is
constrained and you are led by the Spirit.
- The tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil is giving the flesh control in
your life.
- Also “lumber” was used to burn offerings (animals) to God.
- So when we take our lumber up on a high place (close to God) and burn
ourselves we are denying the flesh.
- The shape of the stick isn’t import it’s the flammability that matters.
