- Then having gone, disciple all nations, baptizing them into the name of
the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to
observe all things, whatever I commanded you. And, behold, I am with you
all the days until the completion of the age. Amen.
(Matthew 28:19-20 LITV)

- And answering the eunuch said to Philip, I ask you, about whom does the
prophet say this? About himself, or about some other one? And opening
his mouth, and beginning from this Scripture, Philip announced the
gospel to him, Jesus. And as they were going along the highway they came
on some water. And the eunuch said, Behold, water! What prevents me to
be baptized?
(Acts 8:34-36 LITV)

|
- They went to the G12 cell church and right away wanted to get baptized.
- Was it the Gospel preached?
|
|
5
|
- Could you present the gospel, Jesus so that someone say “Stop the care –
there’s a puddle – please I want to get baptized!!!
|
|
6
|
- Although many call us when something goes wrong – and that’s good. That
means they think we’re genuine and a connection to God.
- What are we missing from our presentation of the Gospel that wanting
Baptism is not a priority to those we teach?
- What did Philip tell the Eunuch?
- I think we need a better understanding of the baptisms in the bible and
what they really mean.
|
|
7
|
- What about the Gospel would have made the Eunuch say, “Look there’s
water over there what’s to prevent me from getting baptized right now?”
- Lets look at some standard presentations and see if this is what Philip
taught the Eunuch.
|
|
8
|
- So We Are Going to Cover the History of Baptisms in the bible to see
possibly what Philip taught the Eunuch and the G12 church might possibly
have taught Jose and Martha.
- And we’ll see what it is about the Gospel that makes wanting to get
baptized a high priority
|
|

|
- The Fire Insurance “gospel” of accept Jesus so you won’t burn in hell
forever.
- This isn’t about a relationship with God.
- And “Hell” isn’t in the original scriptures. Only the Catholic
translations.
|
|
10
|
- The bible only promises Christians food, clothing, and Shelter. It never
specifies how much $$$.
- `And that sown toward the thorns, this is he who is hearing the word,
and the anxiety of this age, and the deceitfulness of the riches, do
choke the word, and it becometh unfruitful.
- (Matthew 13:22 YLT)
|
|
11
|
- Most people who aren’t Christians will say “so what.” It’s meaningless
to them.
- And people want meaning in their life.
- Meaning in life is probably the most important thing to a person.
|
|
12
|
- But some churches are making many more disciples than others.
- Some churches are also just providing food, fun, and friends and produce
very shallow believers that’s true.
- But all heavy-duty Christians began as shallow believers somewhere.
- It began with baptism into the body of Christ.

- Who, in the days of Noah, went against God's orders; but God in his
mercy kept back the punishment, while Noah got ready the ark, in which a
small number, that is to say eight persons, got salvation through water:
- (1 Peter 3:20)
|
|
16
|
- Death sentence on sinners.
- Corruption of sin was brought to a standstill by God’s action.
- The Old World buried in Water.
- As the Water Rose it lifted Noah higher away from sin.
- Brought old creation to an end and started New with a New Family.
- Noah and family didn’t get wet. But the sinners did.
- So flood waters symbolize judgement.

- For it is my desire, my brothers, that you may keep in mind how all our
fathers were under the cloud, and they all went through the sea; And
they all had baptism from Moses in the cloud and in the sea; And they
all took the same holy food; And the same holy drink: for they all took
of the water from the holy rock which came after them: and the rock was
Christ.
- (1 Corinthians 10:1-4)

- The Red sea speaks of water and blood.
- When Jesus died water and blood came out of him and baptized the earth.
- His first miracle was to turn water into wine.
- Egypt water turned to blood.
- Another effect of crossing the red sea, Paul says, is to join the
Israelite people “into” Moses.
- Also similar to Noah – final judgment on the Egyptians. (again
destruction of sinners)
- United the destiny of a people with the destiny of the Covenant holder.
- Others benefit through relationship to Noah and Moses
- Also in the Moses baptism Israel didn’t get wet. The Egyptians got wet
and died.

|
- 1. Judgment on Sinners and Our Enemies
- 2. Separation from Sinners and Our Enemies
- 3. A decisive End of the Old.
- 4. A solid beginning of the new.
- 5. A union with the Covenant Holder

|
- Then he went down seven times into the waters of Jordan, as the man of
God had said; and his flesh became like the flesh of a little child
again, and he was clean.
(2 Kings 5:14)
- Naaman was a general of the Syrian army.
- 7 times speaks of Tabernacles with a new body.
|
|
22
|
- This time baptism is about a new creation “babies skin”
- This is the first bible baptism where the candidate got wet. Like a baby
being born.
- When a baby is born you have water, blood, and air.
- So water baptism also has to do with new birth after the destruction of
the old.
- Moses and the Israelites were kept completely dry which is probably why
they never left the “flesh” behind and became “spiritual” creations or
“born from above”.
- This links baptism with conversion and the ‘new birth’
|
|

|
- For this cause I am full of bitter grief; pains like the pains of a
woman in childbirth have come on me: I am bent down with sorrow at what
comes to my ears; I am shocked by what I see. My mind is wandering, fear
has overcome me: the evening of my desire has been turned into shaking
for me.
- (Isaiah 21:3-4)
- Septuaging: “horror baptized me”
|
|
24
|
- Again – God’s destructive visitation of judgment upon sin and the
judgment will ultimately result in the freeing of Babylon’s slave
peoples.
- Separating experience that will leave people on either side of a divide.
- The template for the idea of baptism is remarkably consistent. It is a
destructive act of God which separates men from their slave-masters.
- The patterns are remarkably consisten.
|
|
25
|
- Girded with girdles upon their loins, exceeding in dyed attire upon
their heads, all of them princes to look to, after the manner of the
Babylonians of Chaldea, the land of their nativity: (Ezekiel 23:15)
- “dyed” is baptizo in the Septuagint.
- And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is
called The Word of God. (Revelation 19:13)
- Dipped is baptizo.
|
|
26
|
- No judgment here but the introduction of an idea that a baptism can
effect a union.
- It is an irreversible event which leaves old things passed away and
everything become new.
- Like Dying cloth instead of cloth and dye you end up with “dyed cloth”.
The two become one.
|
|
27
|
- John – Water for repentance (but John said one greater would come and
baptize in Holy Spirit and with Fire)
- Jesus (before death) Disciples - Water
- Jesus (after death) – Holy Spirit and Fire
|
|
28
|
- Destruction of the flesh. Like Noah.
- Destruction of our enemies – Satan and death. Like Moses.
- New Birth like Naaman.
- Union with Christ like the dyed cloth we are baptized into his body.
- Birth into the Israel of God!
|
|
29
|
- Water baptism is a baptism of repentance.
- Passover type Christians are all about repentance and new birth.
- Water baptism is their “sign”.
- They are not about suffering and destruction of the flesh that comes
later.
- They are also all about “me” because they are spiritually babies.
|
|
30
|
- I’m saved
- I’m hungry
- My diaper’s dirty.
- It’s all about me.
- Water and blood. New birth.
- John’s baptism.
|
|
31
|
- And for me, let it not be--to glory, except in the cross of our Lord
Jesus Christ, through which to me the world hath been crucified, and I
to the world; for in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth
anything, nor uncircumcision, but a new creation; and as many as by this
rule do walk--peace upon them, and kindness, and on the Israel of God!
(Galatians 6:14-16 YLT)
- Just like one had to be born from Jacob to be an “Israelite” one has to
be born of the Spirit to be a “Spiritual Israelite” under the law of
Christ or the New Covenant.
|
|

|
- and having cried with a loud voice, Jesus said, `Father, to Thy hands I
commit my spirit;' and these things having said, he breathed forth the
spirit. (Luke 23:46 YLT)
- They stabbed him and water and blood came out and baptized the whole
earth!
- So there we have spirit, blood, water. The three baptisms.
- And his blood and water feel the earth baptizing the whole earth. In
other words his blood paid for the sins of the whole world. His water
judged all flesh once and for all, destroyed our enemies, brought the
new birth, and brought the world into union with Christ.
- The three baptisms always go together, Air, Water, Blood.
|
|
33
|
- John baptized with water but Jesus with the Holy Spirit.
- John used water that was on the earth.
- Jesus used water from above. Clouds or Spirit.
- Water from below brings death. Water from above brings life.
- Pentecost with Moses at Mt. Sinai there was cloud and fire.
- Pentecost with Jesus in Jerusalem there was “cloud” and fire tongues.
- Baptism in the Spirit means that “God’s fiery law” will go forth from
your mouth and the cloud is the Holy Spirit being poured from heaven by
Jesus onto us and in us to do his work.

- 2. The Aramaic Targum of Jonathan Ben Uzziel states: "And it was on
the third day, on the sixth of the month, in the time of the morning,
that on the mountain there were voices of thunders, and lightnings, and
mighty clouds of smoke, and a voice of a trumpet exceeding loud; and all
the people in the camp trembled. And Mosheh brought forth the people
from the camp to meet the glorious Presence of the Lord; and suddenly
the Lord of the world uprooted the mountain, and lifted it in the air,
and it became luminous as a beacon, and they stood beneath the mountain.
And all the mount of Sinai was in flame; for the heavens had overspread
it, and He was revealed over it in flaming fire, and the smoke went up
as the smoke of a furnace, and all the mountain quaked greatly."
Targum Pseudo-Jonathan commentary on Exodus Chapter 19.
3. The Babylonian Talmud comments: "'And all the people saw
the voices' (Ex. 20:14). Since there was only one voice, why 'voices' in
the plural? Because G-d’s voice mutated into seven voices, and the seven
voices into seventy languages, so that all the nations might hear
it." Shemot Rabbah 5:9. Tanchuma, Buber, Shemot 22.
|
|
35
|
- Passover used liquid water to destroy enemies.
- Pentecost uses water vapor or water from above to put God’s fiery law in
us to witness to the whole world.
- The “sign” of Pentecost both Mt. Sinai and Jerusalem is cloud and
tongues of fire.
|

|
- Spiritual Teenagers. Have some strength but not much maturity. Can help
others but usually only help themselves.
- They not worried so much about “salvation” as discipling the world.
That’s their mission.
- They are more about proclaiming “God’s fiery law” or getting people to
renounce their flesh and live in the spirit.
- Signs and Wonders follow them.
- Mixture of flesh and spirit in their lives.
- and go, say to his disciples, and Peter, that he doth go before you to
Galilee; there ye shall see him, as he said to you.‘ (Mark 16:7 YLT)

|
- `Fire I came to cast to the earth, and what will I if already it was
kindled? but I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I pressed
till it may be finished (Strong's #5055)!
- (Luke 12:49-50 YLT)
- when, therefore, Jesus received the vinegar, he said, `It hath been finished
(Strong's #5055);' and having bowed the head, gave up the spirit.
- (John 19:30 YLT)
|
|
38
|
- G5055
- τελέω
- teleō
- tel-eh'-o
- From G5056; to end, that is, complete, execute, conclude, discharge (a
debt): - accomplish, make an end, expire, fill up, finish, go over, pay,
perform.
- When Jesus said, “It is finished” he meant his baptism of fire – his
crucifixion. Now he could baptize us in fire – or purify us through
suffering. We also are to be crucified until our flesh is dead. This is
“Hell”. Hell is our cross and lasts until our flesh is dead. It’s not an
eternal BBQ it’s simply corrective. Not destructive.
|
|
39
|
- Jesus first had to undergo the baptism of fire so that he could then
baptize us in fire.
- The baptism of fire is putting to death of our flesh on the cross.
- The Cross is the wood for the offering of flesh to burn it.
- Jesus was baptized into our sin and we are baptized into his death and
new life.
|
|
40
|
- The Flesh, like Moses, doesn’t go the distance. It doesn’t make it to
the promised land.
- In order to be “born” into the family of God, the body of Christ, the
New Israel we need to die and be born of the Spirit. (Water baptism)
- That in order to destroy their wicked addictions and habits there is
only one solution – their flesh man needs to die. (baptism of fire)
- Tell people that in order to destroy the power of Satan and death in
their lives they need to die and be born again. (baptism of water)
- In order to fulfill the purpose and destiny God has for them it begins
with death and rebirth. (baptism of water)
- That in order to perform miracles, speak in tongues, prophecy and see
the power of the Holy Spirit manifest in their evangelizing they need
the Pentecost anointing. (Baptism of the Holy Spirit)
- 3 different baptisms with three different purposes. And each with 3
different signs.

|
- What we did is I acted like the Ethiopian Eunuch and the winning gospel
presentation was by my wife and went something like this:
- “You have much wealth and everything a man could want except one thing…a
family or hope of having a family. (because he’s a eunuch) the Jesus
you’re reading about died to make us whole and bless us with a family
physically and spiritually. So in the name of Jesus I make you whole
(and his testicles grew back) and now you will have your own family. And
as soon as you repent and are baptized in water you will be born into
Spiritual Israel, the family of God, and will be part of God’s family
too.”
- Then, playing the part of the Eunuch I said, “There’s water there stop
the carriage – what’s to prevent me from being baptized right now!”
- So like Paul and Jesus said it’s not just the words but in the power of
the Holy Spirit the supernatural follows us.
- So the right gospel talks of wholeness and family in the physical and
spiritual. And of course the love of God for ALL his children.
- Amen.
